Massachusetts has passed legislation that forces all businesses that have personal data (name and social security number or other identifier) to take steps to protect it.  This means that any business with payroll records must adhere to these new regulations.  However, it goes beyond just payroll, and could include Limited Partner info that might be housed in tax documents (K1’s) or data systems (portfolio management software, accounting systems, etc.)  It also mandates that all companies which house this data develop a Written Information Security Policy.  Will you be in compliance?
